HeMotions 2: Office Function Gumption

For those of you not privy, corporate holiday office parties are annual functions held by companies to allow employees three to five hours of revelry to forget their inconsequential existence in service to faceless, billion dollar entities that specialize in breaking dreams, pillaging the Earth and producing reality television.
These parties usually include hors d’ouvres (French for “cheese cubes”), tiny napkins, alcohol, awkward pauses in conversation with coworkers, inappropriate divulgations of long-harbored romantic feelings for the 23-year-old with the Eva Mendes hair in the cubicle by the men’s room, ill-advised karaoke performances of “Dirty Pop” and terabytes of JPEGS of you making an ass of yourself with Angel the bathroom attendant.
Still not ringing an Alexander Graham Bell? No worries*. Watch and learn, [insert Na’vi for ‘moron’ here].
Snap, Crackle, Pop Muzak! We back with Details Magazine riding shotgun on this latest Modern Jackass production featuring SoMos, Greta Lee and another beatific beat by Dougles.
It’s the first installment of the HeMotions musical web series brought to you excluslivey by Details Magazine. View it, comment and spread the love so we can keep tickling your mind, touching your heart and rubbin’ word bombs on your prostates. Jai Ho!
The MNAC Muzeul National de arta contemporana has decided, for reasons beyond our understanding, to include our video for the Southern Mothers’ Olafur Eliasson A Milli remix in their spring collection. If you’re ’round Bucharest before April 3, be sure to check it out and let us know exactly how out of place it is.
As with their earlier jam, Olafur Eliasson, NY’s Southern Mothers tend to lace their lyrics with references that celebrate the art of rap rather than denigrate it. They don’t rely on couplets for easy jokes and their thoughts often span a length longer than a single line. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to tell exactly what they’re saying since their syntax is more complex than Marc Ecko. To make it easier we’ve put together an annotated version of the lyrics to the most recent Modern Jackass / Southern Mothers collaboration – “Dear Gossip Girl.”
We know it’s no big thing when a You Tube video gets 30,000 views. Andy Samberg could fart on an otter’s face and film it on his iPhone and that shit would break a milli by lunch. But when it’s the Southern Mothers, two white boys from the least white states in the union (Michigan and GA) rapping for five minutes straight about a Danish installation artist? There’s no reason that should get more than 5,000 hits from casually curious Daily Intelligencers and Gothamists.
But at 30,000 views, the Southern Mothers’ ‘Olafur Eliasson’ is now the most viewed You Tube video related to the artist. Months after his waterfalls have come down around New York, Olafur Eliasson, the A Millie remix, still generates views as well as comments like:
Remember when on the Glow in the Dark Tour, ‘Ye played the new beat he made and Jay came out and ripped the first verse of Jockin’ Jay-Z? Holy shit that was tight! But yo, something had to be done. Jay couldn’t even get his Icebergs on ’cause Noel Gallagher was on his nuts so bad.
Well, now it’s pitbulls that are getting jocked like Secretariat. Fresh off the success of their Olafur Eliasson A Milli remix, Southern Mothers are back to defend Pitbulls against GOP slander. With seven days until Obamageddon, we ask you, “What’s the difference between a Hockey Mom and a Pitbull?” Turns out a lot.
